Jwaneng Airfield
Jwaneng Airport Looking South
Jwaneng Airport is owned and operated by the Debswana diamond mining company. It is primarily used to move personnel and diamonds to and from Gaborone, Johannesburg and Orapa. The Botswana Defence Force frequently use it as a base for parachute training. The airport provides customs and immigration services which are based at Jwaneng Town. The complex to the left of the image is Jwaneng Meterological Services station which records hourly between 0800 and 2000 local, available online.

This image shows Jwaneng Airport, which lies a mile or so to the west of Jwaneng Town (‘J-Town’), looking north towards Jwaneng Diamond Mine. The mine is the richest diamond mine in the World because of its high proportion of gem quality stones. De Beers Prospecting Botswana are prospecting for more diamond ores using a Bell Geospace gravity gradiometer installed on a Zeppelin NT airship. The circular landing site can be seen in this image.
